What is The Blues Gate ? We are a co-op of local musicians committed to bringing live music to our friends and promoting area bands while we develop a community of talented players and a calendar of entertaining events. We have over 150 musicians currently participating in this effort, and we welcome more. What events are currently scheduled ? We host an open Music Jam Session approx. twice per week at venues in Charles Town, WV and Hagerstown, Md. During these 3-4 hour shows we feature local musicians as "guest performers" and we provide a "host band" to open the show and provide backing as needed for our jammer friends. Are the jam sessions open to the public ? We welcome everyone to come and listen to our music, the locations serve food and adult beverages at reasonable prices, and admission is FREE. What types of music do you play ? Our musicians play all types of "Boomer Friendly" music, including blues, rock and roll, oldies, country, jazz and more. The jam sessions are blues based, but you will hear a selection of all these types of music. The shows feature mostly "dance-able" tunes, so wear comfortable shoes. How do I get to jam with you folks ? Just bring your instrument and or voice and sign up at any jam session. How do I get more information and a schedule of jams ? We are working to develop community fund-raising shows and several concerts featuring the best of our local bands, especially events that feature multiple bands. |
